I am happy you are here!

Mobirise

Hello and thank you for your interest.

I am Sabrina, proud mummy to 3 gorgeous girls, and I have simply been fascinated by the world of fungi for many years. A natural branch within this fascination are medicinal mushrooms.
What are they? Who can use them? Where do I get them? What are they good for? These are just a few of the questions I will go on to explore on this page.

Whilst navigating a tricky time in my personal life in recent years I started looking for more natural ways to help boost my overall health and well being. I explored medicinal mushrooms and for me it has been a revelation! I do not take any other supplements, other than an occasional multi vitamin. Speaking from my experience I feel I can say with confidence that since incorporating medicinal mushroom into my routine I have been less poorly, more balanced, more energised, more focused and have a much improved recovery rate following strenuous activity; I like to exercise hard! I mean I have to balance out all this chocolate development and sampling right!?

I believe that the medicinal mushrooms have been helping me conquer the challenges life can present. I incorporate a consistent low daily dose by simply having a nice chocolate, or two, spiked with my mushroom blends.
I have noticed a massive difference in myself, and others have been noticing as well.
I figured I really need to share this; why not make a business of it and see if it can benefit others. It can at least make an interesting gift for the mushroom lover in your life! I am also just really happy making chocolates and sharing the love. Miss Mushroom is a venture I am compelled to explore, and I am very excited that if you are reading this then you are curious to explore with me too.

What are medicinal mushrooms?

The hint is in the terminology, they are quite simply mushrooms that can be used medicinally. There are hundreds and hundreds of mushrooms that can be categorized as medicinal.
If you ask me all mushrooms can be seen as generally medicinal as they are so so good for you! Even just adding more standard shop bought varieties into your diet is hugely beneficial but medicinal mushrooms pack more of a punch with their attributed therapeutic qualities.
A word you will hear a lot when medicinal mushrooms are being discussed is adaptogenic. This is a general term ascribed to some fungi and plants believed to help the body manage stresses in their various forms.

Where do they grow? Many medicinal mushrooms need very specific environments to thrive in. For instance Chaga, which I used in my Vigour truffles. When selecting a Chaga supplement, it's crucial to know the product's source. Due to Chaga's slow growth, it can accumulate toxins from airborne pollutants. For this reason, the supplement company I use exclusively utilises wild-harvested organic Chaga from Siberia to ensure the highest purity extracts. Antioxi’s Organic Chaga is extracted using dual extraction, to extract the highest degree of active compounds.

There are a growing number of mushroom farms cropping up across the UK, but mostly for edible varieties, I really recommend trying out new varieties and visiting a local market or supplier if you are lucky enough to have one nearby.

In terms of where to buy medicinal mushrooms, not all supplements are created equal. I use Antioxi; if you are looking for mushroom supplements without the chocolate and want to use medicinal mushrooms in an especially targeted way then this is a fantastic company to explore.

We can all benefit from medicinal mushrooms! Having said that, as with all good things, moderation is key. Most medicinal mushrooms are very well tolerated but some of us can be more sensitive than others; which is why having them in a low dose incorporated into a food such as chocolate is a great idea to help avoid gastro upsets.
It is always advisable to consult your medical practitioner before incorporating any medicinal mushroom into your diet.

Please consider further research and discussing with your healthcare provider before using medicinal mushrooms for their numerous benefits. Some medicinal mushrooms contain a protein that possesses anti-blood clotting properties. Consequently, individuals taking blood-thinning medications, those with bleeding disorders, or individuals preparing for surgery should consult their healthcare provider before incorporating into their regimen.
Some mushrooms can also influence your blood sugar levels, which can be a good thing, but those who are diabetic and using insulin should discuss with your GP prior to any mushroom use.
